Underwater Lights

There are 6 major tips to creating a breath taking water feature! Step #4 is:

4. Lighting!

A pond or water feature is something you should be able to enjoy at night as well as during the day! Underwater lighting gives your feature an enchanting look. Light with color lenses can also be purchased to enhance the brilliance. When installing lights always have at least 1 light facing away from your waterfall. This brings out the fall and creates a center piece in your pond. Remember to try and position the lights in a way where the wires are well hidden.

A pond isa great addition to any yard. The calming and soothing effect of water flowing and the fish swimming can make you forget all your worries and tensions. After spending so much time and resources into building a pond, you would like to enhance its aesthetics so that it could add to the landscape of your home. One effective and appropriate way of doing this is by using pond lights. With the use of these lights, you will be able to enjoy your beautiful pond during the night, as you enjoy it during the day. Moreover these lights will add mysterious depth to your pond

Basically there are two broad categories of lights available for your pond. The first one is LED’s. They are the latest entrants in the world of lights. LED’s have a longer work life and are very sturdy. They consume less electricity and emit better light than normal bulbs. However LED’s are quite expensive and if you are looking to brightly illuminate your pond then these are not very suitable.

The other form of lighting available for ponds is known as halogens. Halogens have been around for a long time and are the most commonly used lights in ponds. However there are a few drawbacks- they produce a lot of heat, thus significantly increasing the temperature of the pond, and they are not as long-lasting as LED’s so your maintenance and replacement costs are significantly increased.

The latest development in the area of pond lights is the entrance of solar lighting. They generally come in the form of floating lights, which float on your pond water and enhance its beauty. These lights get charged during the day and automatically come on as soon as it gets dark. Thus you won’t have to worry about paying extra on your electricity bills or constantly turning the lights on and off. There are no wires or batteries in these solar lights so you won’t have to hide the wires or change the batteries. Solar lights are very economical and convenient.

Underwater lights are also very popular among pond lovers. A submersible light can transform an ordinary oasis of water to a beautiful and majestic piece of art. If you have a water fall in your pond then these lights can accentuate the beauty of that fall. These lights are placed at the bottom or on the sides of the pond. They should be properly fixed and directed to achieve the desired look.

A focused light can be used to focus on some special feature of your pond. If you have planted a new plant or created an artificial model, these focused pond lights can be directed on that object to make it look special and more beautiful. Adding the use of transformers will greatly reduce your need to interfere in the whole lighting process.
